I had so much fun with the Axe and Knife test shoot that I decided to shoot a few food props as well. My favorite part of a test shoot is the trial and error of creating light in a studio environment. For this set, I wanted the light to look like a bright summer day. Even though all of it was created in the studio, I kept daydreaming about summers in Spain or Greece where the sun bounces off of every brightly painted surface.

The style highlights the wood grain beautifully and the crisp shadows create depth to the product and styling. It reminds me of Herriott Grace which is full of beautiful hand-carved home goods as well as great product photography. After this test shoot, I will definitely add more wood props to my collection. Either that or use the money to escape to a beach – maybe both!
