Without posting anything too personal, I have to say that this week and the many weeks before it were incredibly challenging for me. By the end of it all (the stress, the exhaustion, the exasperation), the only thing on my mind was getting my hands on a couple of my favorite cupcakes.

I took a walk to my favorite bakery, Two Little Red Hens, and ordered a “King and Queen” which is one Brooklyn Blackout cupcake and one Red Velvet cupcake. Afterwards, I went home and took comfort in the icing and spongy sweet goodness.

Do you ever notice that people consume sweets when they are either extremely sad or extremely happy? I was feeling a lot of both all at once. When it was over and all I had left were two paper wrappers, I felt neither of the extremes. Instead, I felt like my old self again. Feeling that familiarity in my bones, I turned on my computer and started editing my photos. After a while I leaned back, admired my accomplishments, and I felt whole for the first time in a long time.

Maybe I should rename this post as: “Cupcakes and Closure”

I am very happy to be back to being my old self again. On that happy note, I am excited to announce that there are so many photos on the way and I can’t wait to share them with you! I hope you stick around because there is so much more yet to come!
