After spending two weeks in bed with the flu, I was definitely excited to get out there and shoot again. With it raining on and off throughout the month, this set of photos were from one of the few days that did not involve a downpour. It’s interesting how a sky can make a difference in the way an image looks. When I shot in October, the sky was a clear, bright blue and the light dappled through the trees as if the leaves were made of stained glass. This time around, the cloudy and rainy sky created a subdued mood and brought out the auburns and olives rather than the bright reds and saturated oranges.

As a bonus, I captured one of my favorite images of the season: the curious dachshund puppy! Look at that face! Combined with the composition of the walker and the surrounding autumn trees, this photo embodies everything I love about fall.

Hopefully next week I will be back to feeling 100 percent. During Thanksgiving and onwards, I plan on shooting the glimmer of the holiday season…especially the debut of the department store Christmas windows in NYC!
